Reverse Engineering Workshop on Wireless Devices

This workshop is designed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on reverse engineering applied to wireless devices such as gate remote controls, alarm systems, and wireless doorbells. Although these devices are used as examples, the tools and methodologies covered can be applied to the analysis of any type of device, whether wireless or not.

Workshop Contents

  • Introduction to the world of radio: Fundamental concepts of wireless communication and the basic tools needed to begin reverse engineering processes will be explained.
  • Component analysis: A review of datasheets and technical specifications of the various components that make up the devices, allowing participants to understand their internal functioning.
  • Research methodology: A step-by-step explanation of the research process, starting with observation, hypothesis generation, experimentation, and results recording, to approach the analysis of any device.
  • Study of digital outputs: Analysis of the digital signals generated in the stages prior to transmission, identifying relevant patterns and behaviors.
  • Analysis and decoding of transmitted signals: The workshop will conclude with the interpretation of the transmitted wireless signal, covering decoding techniques and practical analysis.
  • Common attacks and mitigation tools.

This workshop is tailored for people interested in electronics, security, and technological research, without requiring advanced prior knowledge. By the end, participants will have concrete tools to approach the reverse engineering of wireless and similar devices.
